Oregon State University

International Baccalaureate - Oregon State recognizes IB achievement by awarding credit to students who score 5 or above on Higher Level IB exams. OSU also grants additional benefits for students who complete the full IB diploma, as follows:

Guaranteed admission to OSU. (Though not considered for admission, students are required to submit SAT scores for course placement purposes)

Sophomore Standing, for any student with a total score on IB exams of 30 or higher

Annual, renewable $2000 Scholarship. Students with a total score on IB exams of 30 or higher can choose to accept the IB scholarship or may compete for more substantial awards.

OSU evaluates individual IB scores in much the same way that it evaluates AP scores. Students must indicate that they would like official test scores sent to OSU. OSU will grant credit only for "Higher" level subjects (not subsidiary). For scores of 5,6 and 7 OSU will award one year of credit in that subject. Students may petition the Undergraduate Admissions Committee for credit below a grade of 5 and would need departmental evaluation and support. In addition, the official International Baccalaureate Certificate is required in order to award credit

An incoming student may receive credit toward graduation for work completed before enrollment at Reed. Most transfer credit is granted through performance on the College Board’s Advanced Placement exams, through successful completion of course work at accredited colleges and universities, and through internationally recognized academic programs, such as the International Baccalaureate, Abitur, or GCE A-levels.

After completing an Advanced Placement course, high school students have the option of paying a fee to take the appropriate examination. Test results determine the type and number of credits the UO can award.

The UO evaluates International Baccalaureate scores in much the same way as it evaluates AP scores. Students must indicate that they want their official IB test scores sent to the UO. The UO awards credit to students who receive a five or higher on any Higher Level IB examination. The UO does not award credit for Subsidiary Level examinations. For a complete list of university courses satisfied by IB examinations, contact the UO Office of Admissions.
